Bathroom Fitting

Moving the bathroom to a bedroom next door

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.44 PM

Hi, we live in a prefabricated bungalow and the separate toilet was merged into the bathroom before we moved in. However, the bathroom is now larger than the 3rd bedroom and I am trying to find out whether it would be easier to install the bathroom into the 3rd bedroom and then make the bathroom the bedroom (they are next door to each other), or whether we would potentially be better off changing the layout of the bathrooms and reclaiming some of the bathroom to go to the current bedroom. Logistically, financially and logically . . . which would we be better off looking at? Is there anything that we need to consider or which could affect these changes? The bathroom is currently a large double shower/toilet and sink, but we would be having a bath with either separate shower or shower over bath in the new room. Many thanks

Hi, there are a couple things to consider when building a new bathroom, the main things being where is the main soil pipe as all the waste pipes (shower, basin and toilet) will most proberbly run to this. Second is where do the hot and cold pipes run (e.g in the loft, under the floor, in a boxing). If you are able to get the new waste pipes to the main soil pipe and the new hot and cold feeds from existing location to the new location then you are able to move the bathroom, although this will probably cost more money and time moving the bathroom to another room rather than making the existing bathroom smaller, however it is alot down to personal preference. I hope this has helped, Jamie, Hot and Cold Plumbing and Heating.
