Mixture of slabs and concrete over patio area
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.59 PM
Hi, my patio area is mainly uneven slabs with a concrete patio area one side and a concrete path the other. I would like to make the whole area look the same. Not sure if decking is the answer as the after care would be time consuming. Would I be able to cover the whole lot with something else or do I need to remove what's there and start again?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi.
You need to remove the lot and start again. If you are paving dig out enough to accommodate 100mm mot type 1 hardcore and your paving and bed.

Hello,
That depends largely on how sound the existing work is and what level you would like your surface to be at. As Rick recommends, you will need to account for a build up of mortar and slabs as well as a foundation if the area is unstable. Decking might well be a cheaper option and if built well will give you years of use.
Feel free to get in touch if you would like further advice.
All the best,
Tim
