when painting on newly plastered walls does colour of final coat make any difference?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hi, We are currently having our lounge re-plastered. some of the walls have had bonding plaster before skim and walls next to chimney breast have had stud wall then plaster skim. After mist coat, does the final chosen colour affect the new plaster? I was told that Dulux Moroccan sands 1 is too bright to use on new plaster? But that light shades such as cream pose no problem. Is this true? Any ideas why? Really wanted to have a bright feature wall (using Dulux moroccan sands 1) on chimney breast and stud walls. would be grateful of any advice. Many thanks.

Hi Mist coat the walls first then put a normal coat of white Emulsion on wall then apply your colour you may need to apply at least 2 or maybe 3 coats to get a solid finish due to the colour. Please do preparation after mist coat and a light rub down between coats. This will do the trick for you Alex berry

Makes no differance what colours you choose on any type of plaster. The first coat (miss coat not mist coat) can be the same colour as your final colour just make sure its matt emulsion and your plaster has fully dried out . There is no need to thin down this coat.
