House alarm affecting cars parked in immediate vicinity
We have had a house alarm for about two years. Recently we could not open the can door with the fob andcalled out the AA. The AA operator jumped out of his van and the van door shut. He could not open the door and had to use his keys. He then opened our car door with our key and immediately the alarm went off until the key was turned in the ignition. Other cars parked outside our house have similar problems.
If we go 100 yrds from our house the opening and closing of the doors works perfectly.
How can the problem be sorted.
If this is a wireless security system it is possible the frequency of the car remote is that of the intruder alarm and will cause very simular to jamming scenario, also if you have several wireless devices in your property this also may cause conflicts between systems and your vehicle,I would firstly power down intruder then try remote if there is simular issues i would then go for your broad band.If it is the intruder system there are several option firsly see manual for panel of intruder system see if there are dip switches for changing the frequency of transmitters if so this may help if not then i would have the system hard wired.
Hope this helps

Intruder alarms that are designed for a 'professional' installation are on a secure radio frequency which no other UK items should be on. Your best bet is to find the make of your system, and search it online, thus allowing you to see the frequency it uses. Now this may seem tedious, but it will let you know whether your alarm system is 'jamming' with any other electrical equipment on a similar frequency. And in turn it may turn out its not the alarm, and could save you money on replacing the system.
