painting over gloss

Please could someone let me know how to cover gloss paint with emulsion While painting my door frames i have gotten some gloss on to the walls and now the emulsion wont cover it. My gloss is water based for reference and i have tried lightly sanding.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you cant as it is a oil based paint but you can if you undercoat it. you might say well that is oil based but the texture is not the same.

For better adhesion, the area has to be coated with an eggshell or an undercoat (preferably water-based) ensuring the edges are feathered out. This provides a matt surface that an emulsion will adhere to.
