Loft Conversion

Mid-Terrace House Simple Loft Conversion

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.58 PM

I live in a mid terrace house and wish to convert the loft into a simple space possibly to be used as a spare child's bedroom. Adding a dormer is out of the question due to the structure of the house - what is the most simple and cost effective way to do this? I don't want to spend more than 10K as it will only be a temporary room, so a simple design of insulation, one radiator, one plug and one or two small velux windows will suffice. I'd appreciate your advice!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It's unlikely you coud complete this work to any kind of reasonable Standard, safe and compliant to current regs for £10,000. No decent builder n operate legally outside VAT threshold so your looking at less than £8,500 plus vat. Can not be done. If you go down the cash in hand route you are asking for problems. You will get wht you pay for!!!

hi there 10k seems cheap, first check with current regs, as you will need regulated stairs and head room, you will also need the velux window to be installed, and if the room is for your daughter please be carefull as the window will need to be means of escape 2.5 mtrs from the eve hope this helps, i would ring around local building companies regards
