Painting New Doors
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.56 PM
I have 3 brand new wood doors that need painting. i (think) the process is as follows: 1) prime 2)undercoat 3)paint sanding between each one. My builders have underocated all the doors...my question is as step 1 has been missed can i still do this?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,have the doors been knotted prior to step one, which as you say has been missed.I would make sure the undercoat is rubbed down well before applying a stainblock/primer like Zinnser to rectify the lack of priming and possibly knotting, before any finish coats,
thanks,Gary

How unfortunate.Perhaps if you had the courtesy to speak to everyone that you shortlisted for this work, you would have found a builder that you were comfortable enough with to just give them a quick call, rather than waste your time back on here.
