Correct construction of a deck

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.58 PM

I had a deck built last year. There are no gaps between the boards and the strucure is butted right up to the house wall. Is this the correct way to install a deck?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

fine t upto house wall but there should be a gap of about 4mm between dry boards to allow for swelling when wet

Agree with perfect fit - 4 or 5 mm min between boards obviously wood is a natural product and will expand and contract. Boards tight together will eventually bow up and split.
