Did a great job happy with the result

Super job! John is very personable and easy to deal with. The bad weather in January and February meant that there were 'down days' (mortar and rain don't mix), but he'd be back as soon as possible when we had clear weather. Thoroughly recommendable.

John was contracted to come on 03/09/2013 replace four hinges and secure five door handles. Sequence of events: assess the door; go out and buy the incorrect hinges; fit the incorrect hinges; present the finished work [at which point I discover that the door does not open to its full extent]; suggest a swap with the hinges to another door on the unit [reluctantly agreed by me as being a fix I can live with]; fit the not-new 180-degree hinges to the original door; fit the new 90-degree hinges to the other door using the same drill holes; wash my woollen carpet where he has black marks with his black-soled trainers [leaving tide marks and some staining once dry]; secure the five door handles. The top two hinges came away from their housings within a couple of days and he came the same day and appeared to fix the problem. The top hinge came loose again a few days later. I saw that the arm was adrift from its housing by about 5mm. We arranged that John would come to me at 09.30 on 23/09/2013 to sort the issue out but he failed to show. I left several voicemails on his mobile, messaged him via mybuilding.com and emailed a photograph to him. To this day (30/09/2013) I have had no response from him. John’s quotation was rather high but I thought that I was going to be paying for quality workmanship. He did reduce his price by 20% and did not charge me for the incorrect hinges bought but this does not compensate for the anxiety caused by this fiasco. Buyer beware!

I posted a job in July on this site and to my surprise I was contacted by loads of tradesman.John was one of them and so I hired him. John is an approachable man,down to earth,punctual and knows his trade well.He gave me advice which was really helpful. He started the job,and I just couldn't believe my eyes how fast and brilliant his work was,he made it really look easy. John thank you ever so much for a job well done,now lil Samson is enjoying most of his time outside.Thanks

John is a hard working and resourceful builder. The quality of the work is high and his friendly style and approach to customers is helpful and comfortable. John is not one for paperwork much but he's trustworthy and the final test will always be; would I employ him again? The answer is a resounding yes!

Great and honest guy. Couldn't fault him

Seemed rather expensive for less than 3 hours work.Nevertheless, John did the discussed work well and left us with lots of good advice.
