Sleeper borders
I could not in all honesty recommend this person to anyone. He is dishonest and his workmanship inadequate. His quote included laying new turf on top of new topsoil. The soil he brought to use was old and contained large stones, snail shells, weed etc. When I queried this he insisted it was topsoil. After he left I also realised he had scooped out and added the earth from my borders that also contained stones, plant bulbs, etc to fill before laying the 'new' grass. He clearly did not bring enough soil with him to to the job. I asked him why he had used soil from my borders and he denied it. When I pointed out in a photo that the soil I had recently tipped into my borders had gone and there was no way a tonne bag of top soil would fit in his van he admitted to using my soil and tried to back track. He offered to rectify the work as the poor quality grass he laid, unevenly started dying within 4 days. The weather wasn't that hot then and the grass was being watered. I asked for a refund for the grass as I had no confidence in him doing the work to even a reasonable standard. I also did not feel comfortable about having him back in my home. He refused this. Three other gardeners have come to look at his work and all agree he did not use top soil. The area would have required a min of 2 tonnes to level the area. I will be taking him to small claims court to get my money back so I can get the work done by someone qualified. I give fair and honest reviews. He is no good.
