Stephen was quick to respond to my job, and quoted me an hourly price. We agreed a time for him to arrive and he showed up almost an hour late. On arrival he told me a higher hourly price. Whilst working on it he threw out a different sum for the whole job. At all stages I reverted back to the figure he quoted at the start. This made me uncomfortable and like I was being taken advantage of. He arrived to the job with a rod unsuitable for a toilet when it was clearly described in the posting. So half an hour of his time consisted of him going out to buy one. He resolved the issue in the kitchen and left a great deal of mess behind. On leaving he tried to get the higher full sum from me, when I said this wasn’t what we agreed he got defensive. At this point I just wanted the whole experience to be over. The problem in the bathroom persists and I am now paying a qualified plumbing team to resolve it. It’s not worth wasting your timeAnswer from tradesperson:
I arrived with a flexi rod to unblock sink. I sorted blockage and cleaned up any water that was left from trap.which wasnt alot. I then went to get the rods for the toilet from van. As the blockage was not straight forward on the toilet she was getting worried that we were going over the hour. I understand money can be tight for people so i said i will sort blockage no matter of timing for an extra £20. For that £20 I was willing to work for how ever long it took me even if that meant taking toilet off and clearing pipes but the customer said no. I stayed longer than agreed and unblocked toilet for original price stated. I informed her of leak undersink but she said she could do it herself. I told her I would sort it for free. I went to van again to get new washer and sorted it out.

I was contacted about visiting first, before giving a quote. Needed replacement tap handles which Stephen brought, but they were likely cheapest possible option - exactly the same as in communal building at my uni - so I didn't have a chance to pick out a pair matching ones. Avoided mentioning the price until he was finished, which was a bit steep, even for the small tightening and washer-swap that was performed. Otherwise - fixed what was broken.Answer from tradesperson:
I explained it would be difficult to get matching heads for the taps. I gave the options of looking into this or replacing with 1's we can get over the counter on the same day. The customer said to go ahead and purchase them. I brought both sets and even gave an option of lever or round head taps. Was nothing to do with price, just thats the 2 options I could source without ordering.
