Review left on 6 Jul 2019Rating: 1 out of 5Repoint side of house (semi)(Updated on 10 Jul 2019)Problems, problems, problems... I have a semi with a side wall (gable end) that needed repointing. It has 3 sections, top, lower middle (which I repointed some years ago), and bottom. The top and bottom sections definitely needed repointing, middle section may or may not have needed redoing. I advertised the job. it was clear and unambiguous as to what needed doing. I received a quote which said "That’s not including the part that you have already done", implying that it DID include top and bottom sections. Problems... 1. Builder did only PART of the job (top section), but then demanded FULL payment. 2. Builder then tried to claim that their quote did NOT include the bottom section and that they advised me of this BEFORE starting the job and that I agreed to it. Not true and a blatant lie. I pointed out that I wanted the whole wall to be done. 3. Builder then returned to my house whilst I was out and did the bottom section. This was done without access to electricity or water and very hastily. The result was a mix that wasnt right and which is very sandy and crumbly and rubs away easily with a finger. It needs redoing and properly. This view was confirmed by two other builders, one of who called to give me a quote for the back of the house. 4. Brickwork around windows not done and needs doing. 5. Brickwork not washed down after the job. So bottom section needing redoing and the brickwork around the windows needs doing. The job has not been completed.Answer from tradesperson:
We hope the following is a clear and appropriate response. We felt we communicated clearly with this customer about exactly what he wanted pointing but the communication unfortunately seemed to change often. We went back to clarify the situation, we then did more pointing for him, that we did not quote for, as a gesture of good will. He then paid us and said he was happy with the work. A change of mind followed, he emailed us saying he was not happy (even though he had paid us and told us he was happy with the work previously and asked us to point the rear of his property) we responded to him immediately to communicate clearly we had used everything correctly. Sadly he did not respond to us. Following this we were disappointed to see the negative feedback on my builder as we pride ourselves in our work and making sure our customers are happy. After working in the building industry for over 14 years with an excellent reputation, we have been left perplexed by the situation.

She came round to size the work up, kept us informed of progress given we had to have scaffolding and started and finished the work in the timescale noted. She was very pleasant to deal with and we would have no hesitation in either using her again or recommending her to other people.
