    Extension and other works.
    Peter only completed half the job and never returned to complete, did not respond to emails or texts, I am still owed for 4 windows that I paid for up front. I would not use this builder again.

    Answer from tradesperson:

    I have not responded to any texts etc. as I have never received any communications from you. Why would I not want to return and complete the work when I am still owed money for work completed. I have been waiting for you to let me know when you were ready to re-commence the work. You have never paid for anything up front, I only invoiced you once - for half of the total job, even though well over half of the entire work had been completed, I do not take payments up front, I trust that my clients will pay me when the work is done. There was only 1 very expensive bespoke window to be supplied on the plans, that I ordered and paid for, and am now left with. I also ordered and paid for the steel, (an extra) the cost of which is still owing by you. I was stopped from working on your building, when the lockdown was imposed, as the listed building inspector needed to pass the test panel, and the inspector had stopped working, so I couldn't carry on until the panel was approved. We had to negotiate to get the half payment that we invoiced, although more than half of the work was completed. We have never heard from you since. I have been over to site several times, but all is still as I left it. I have been left with a useless- very expensive- bespoke window, and a useless steel, and I am very out of pocket on this job. I dispute that you are owed anything, it is the other way round, you still owe me for the amount of work that was completed, plus the window and steel.

    Pete was great! Was always polite and on time, a clean worker and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him!

    Help with dry stone wall
    I am thrilled with the job Pete did for me. He is extremely efficient ,professional and skilled. I highly recommend him !

    Single storey rear extension - with plans & permission approved
    Pete and Gavin did a fantastic job on a rear single story extension on our 100 year old property. Found solutions to any problems that arose and finished on time would highly recommend them to anyone!

    Upgrade & extend
    Pete took on an unfinished conservatory rebuild (left by another builder) and completed it for me to a high standard. He was on time, on budget and when decisions were needed, he asked me what I wanted and did that. There were a couple of snags which he came out and fixed without problems. Very happy with all aspects of the job.

    A collapsed dry stone wall...help needed urgently

    Peter is a highly skilled artisan, his work is beautiful. Our Cotswold stone garden wall collapsed and he came very quickly to reassure us it was safe. The work was completed quickly, and to a very high standard. He also did a little side job, equally beautiful. He runs a very responsive, efficient and affordable service and I can't recommend him and his colleague highly enough. A real gem. Thank you so much.

    Ground floor, slate roof lean-to extension

    Peter Hawes was very quick, efficient and did a really good job. The stone wall looks brilliant.

    Kitchen extention 6m x 4m

    Pete & Gavin built my single story kitchen extension both on time & on price. With some restrictive access they managed to overcome all obstacles placed before them without fuss. The level of workmanship was pleasing & we were particularly impressed with our vaulted roof. Over the 6 week build they were always quite tidy (its a building site after all), dealt with the trades & with building control on our behalf. During my investigations into a prospective builder i received personal references from colleagues who had work done by Pete. These were complementary, & therefore by my own experiences included, i would not have any doubts recommending PJ Hawes Contractors to family & friends (or strangers).

    Side extension 19 Sq. M.
    We chose Pete after meeting him and reviewing two positive references but more importantly for us Pete completed a large extension on a house near us and the owners they were very positive stating: "Pete’s the only person we'd have back to do work on the house". We had an extension with two internal rooms, vaulted ceiling, knock through to existing house and a further knockdown of an existing kitchen diner built without full plans. 1 Pete started the work on time and completed well before the final date indicated 2 Pete seemed to have a very good relationship with local building control as this all went very smoothly, a real plus 3 The cost of the extension did not increase bar additional depth to foundations required by BC 4 The quality of the brickwork is fantastic and was completed very quickly, the roof and general construction is top quality 5 There are only a few very minor interior things that could have been better, some of the plastering wasn't 100% perfect in places and some of the dry lining meant that walls in one or two small places were a bit out of square, but honestly this doesn't show at all, especially when painted 6 Pete and his wife were really helpful, approachable and friendly at all times, both before, during and after construction. We always had good communication all written quotes, invoices etc. I would recommend Pete to anyone who is having an extension done on their property or any external building work like patios etc.
