The job required was posted on the 17th May 2019 which was to;
1. Repair or replace an internal Yale door lock (tenant broke key).
2. Repair plastering around patio door and strengthen surround & repaint surround.
Marius Iacobus was selected a price of £120 was agreed for the whole work. Repairs to the patio door were completed correctly. However, text feedback from our tenant on the repair / replacement of the internal door lock was as follows: ”The lock fitting on the internal door are not quite right. Can’t take the key out of the other side until its locked, but once I’ve taken the key out if there is anyone inside the property it leaves them locked in, but of course, a fire safety hazard.”
Marius Lacobus was contacted. It seems that the correct replacement lock was not purchase in the first instance or communicate clearly with the tenant. He attended the property on three occasions but as he was going on holiday it took him a total of 49 days to complete the job. On final completion of the job, he asked for a further £40 to be added onto the £120 fixed price that had previously been agreed. He was now charging for two locks & extra labour charges. Reluctantly, we compromised at £137.49 which was paid to him.
We will not use Mr Marius Lacobus in the future. We expect our contractors to use their skills and expertise to keep to THE FIXED AGREED PRICE. I had no alternative but to give negative feedback for the first time.
