Following a very good “sell”, to be fair, Kieran did the work to price and schedule, and the boiler installation was fine. The problems related to the unnecessary and costly collateral damage and his attitude to fixing this. For instance, rather than removing any nails first, floorboards were simply wrenched up with a hammer and broken. Similarly, roof tiles where the previous flue pipe had gone were not replaced as agreed leaving the roof with a gaping hole, and so on. Latterly, we have discovered a water leak from a new pipe installed by Kieran with a new radiator – this has been causing the boiler pressure to continuously drop since installation and require frequent topping up. Although it’s only been a matter of months, Kieran denied it was covered by the warranty (the contract says “5 year warranty on appliances, parts and labour”) and refused to come round unless his fuel was paid. The last time I spoke to Kieran in person, he called me “stupid” because I found the thermostat somewhat user-unfriendly. This time on the phone, he told me I was an intelligent woman and that I “made him laugh” thinking he should come and fix something that was faulty when he installed it without further charge. He then hung up on me. Be very wary.
