Gary Harte contacted me the day I posted this job & came out fo see us straight away. We needed a much bigger bathroom conversion doings well. He assured us he could do all that too & showed us a job at the time doing exactly that looking good from the photos he showed us.
Gary was very friendly & nothing seemed too much trouble. He could start straight away & provided a quote for both jobs that was quite acceptable. He reckoned he could get most of the work done in two weeks time. We gave him full specs of goods for the bathroom.
He started on the steps straight away & soon after on the bathroom.
Gary appeared to use different tradesmen who he ferried to & from the job & brought materials, etc, but did not do much work himself. Different guys for different jobs appeared.
Initially, work proceeded well & both jobs started to take shape. There was an almost immediate problem with procuring sand, cement, blocks, etc due to industry shortages & Wickes, in particular, had 2-6 week lead times on delivering cabinets, etc.
There were often gaps of days when no-one turned up, & if they did, didn’t know what they were supposed to be doing. Toilet installed in wrong position, jobs not quite finished properly, one guy trying to do work that clearly needed 2 resulting in ill fitted work, electrics now hanging from bathroom ceiling. Delays for vehicle problems, health & longer gaps though always promises to return.
Now four weeks of no work & a dozen jobs outstanding.
