The work was surveyed a week before it was done, very competently, informatively and thoroughly. The initial quote was expensive, but I was able to reduce it by £1k, because I agreed to be one of two jobs on the same day. Two workmen arrived promptly on the day and worked very hard for the 5 hours it took to do the job of clearing old fibreglass, then applying foam to all of the internal roof. A good job was done by them both, and they were courteous, helpful and efficient.
There was one issue. I had specified with the surveyor that I wanted the loft to be hoovered once the old fibreglass had been removed; I did not want to be having to breathe in fibreglass dust. However, the two workmen said that this was not part of the job they had been given, and had no machinery on their van to carry this out. I mentioned this to the company who had rung to collect payment, but no allowance for this. As a result, as 69/68 year old pensioners, we had to hoover the loft ourselves, not an easy or pleasant job for us, especially as we had been assured by the surveyor that hoovering was part of the work, and I had paid £3,000 for the work. If you deal with this company, be sure that they actually do carry out the work they say they will do. Insistence on a full written specification of the proposed job, in hindsight, would be important. So, mostly a very good job, but as I fed back to the company, and here also, in this one area, things were sadly not good, and no compensation given.
