Second opinion on boiler
David ran through the diagnostic procedure in the manual very thoroughly and clearly explained what he was doing and why. Gas valve replaced after discussion with the manufacturer. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. David returned and fitted another part without charging for the part or labour. Unfortunately, it would appear the boiler is beyond repair, but the service I received from G1 gas was excellent.
