2 bathrooms and a small kitchen

Donovan was really friendly and polite and worked very hard to get our bathroom finished on schedule. I intend to use him again for any other tiling jobs we have in the future.

    Kitchen and bathroom tiling

We chose Donovan because of the good reviews here. He did a reasonably good job tiling the floors, using very large tiles. However, we were very disappointed by the wall tiling, especially the mosaics. The result looks no better than a DIY job - many mosaics are not evenly spaced out, and the surface is uneven, with some protruding oddly. Some were so badly laid we asked him to replace them (sourcing extra tiles at our own cost). He did so only in part (refusing to replace one strip), and the finish still wasn't very good. Donovan's attention to detail was very poor. He cut the tile trim too short in certain areas, and seemed to rely overly on smothering everything in grout to hide flaws. He was also very messy, leaving lumps of adhesive all over our new kitchen - on the tap, hob etc. We found Donovan quite hard to communicate with. Often he only raised problems after the fact, rather than talking to us beforehand. For example, the tile trim we originally bought was too narrow - something which would have been immediately obvious - but he went ahead and tiled the wall anyway, only telling us about the problem afterwards. He acknowledged the poor quality of the work (but only after we sent him photos), and we agreed to reduce the amount owed. He was quite aggressive about immediate payment (calling and texting within 24 hours of finishing), despite the fact that we had already paid him in part halfway through the job.

    Tiler Wanted!

Builder was on time and did the job but did not tile to the back of the wall, so the fridge is on a slant. He also left a mess in the hallway outside which I had to clean.
