The job was completed to a satisfactory standard and the workmen were polite, clean and professional. 2. When quoting for the job I was told the day rate was £150 and that my job would take three days, £450 in total but I was told they would discount to £400. In the event the job was completed in only two days so I thought I would be charged £300, unfortunately I was still charged £400. I think this was somewhat greedy as I live on a small pension. I recommend obtaining a written quotation with an estimate indicating the day rate so you only pay for the length of the job.Answer from tradesperson:
i discussed with the client that it is difficult to guess how many coats of paint it would take to cover his newly plastered walls and very large and very high ceilings, at first i said that we work at a daily rate, but then agreed that we would do the job at a fixed price regardless of how many coats of paint it would take and regardless of how many days it would take.

George painted our lounge and wallpapered two walls. He did the work quite quickly, he cleaned up after himself, he was polite and on time, and we were really pleased with the finished result. I would definitely recommend him.
