Removal of existing bathroom suite and replace with new.
Following installation i found sink waste to be leaking(i repaired).
3 days later new bath developed a crack on inside wall.Found that the hot water feed pipe(brass nut) was butt up against the back of bath wall, and with the pressure from a full bath and the hot nut, the inside acrylic lining of the bath cracked. The feed pipes should NOT have been touching the bath wall. Also found that the p-trap bath waste was leaking.
Then discovered that the toilet waste was leaking.
George had used silicone around all the joints and i discovered that the bath p-trap was not aligned, square on, with the bath waste pipe.George and his partner had used the old toilet waste pipe with lashings of silicone to seal.
I repaired the toilet waste with a new pan connector(no silicone needed.
I replaced the cracked bath with another new bath which George,to his credit came back to fit.
George's insurance(if he has any-please check if you hire him-i didn't)did not pay for this bath-I did.
I repaired the bath waste leaking by fitting a new ring washer to the p-trap and ensuring it was aligned square on.Again silicone free, and no leaks.
George fitted my new shower valve, but damaged(scratched) it in the process. His only comment"oh dear".
The shower valve was not level and it was leaking slightly. When i pointed this out to George he stood in the new bath,WITH HIS SHOES ON,to put right the fault. For added security he put a little silicone around the shower valve nuts to deter any leaks. When I removed it i found the valve had a small leak.I have had this repaired.
To summarise.....George likes silicone to "seal" joints.
If there is a leak, then silicone only moves it along to somewhere else.
I would have no hesitation in NOT reccommending George for this type of work.
