To be fair, the guys (bold Steve and two Adams) who came to do the flooring did not do a lousy job. However, there was a serious communication problem.
1.When Grant called me, I asked him to come and check my floor first. But he refused. He suggested I go to his shop with the laminate sample and showed to him. I did. 2.In the discussion, we agreed on: •NO door plating unless it’s different flooring. • flooing on all bedrooms AND LANDINGS.•Grant suggested the date on Friday 26 Nov. He said his guys could come in the early morning at around 8 pm.
The start was very rocky. 1.They planned to do the flooring in the bedrooms ONLY. Steve refused to listen to what I said and just repeated: NO, I don’t have time for this. I had no other choice but called Grant. But Grant seemed to ‘forget’ what he had promised. Eventually Steve decided to do all the flooring but had to come back again at another time.
2.On the first day, the guys only worked three hours. Then I understood why Steve didn't have time for this. 3.Steve wanted to put door plates, but I said that the agreement was no door plates unless different flooring. Again, Steve refused to listen to what I said. I had to call Grant. 4.It turned out that some parts of the landing were problematic, so the guys had to lay a few layers of boards first before putting on the laminate. The whole work last from 26 Nov until 11 Dec. The guys had to come back another three times to finish it, which was far more than Grant had promised.
