I recently needed 2x 4m^2 bedroom ceilings replacing entirely (taken down, boarded and plastered) and all the walls restored as the original plaster from 1910 had blown and come away from the lathe base and to make it worse this needed to be done while I was away at work on the other side of the country. Fortunately I was lucky to meet Chris on mybuilder.com.
Chris came around when he said he would, talked me through in detail what was needed, provided me with all the options but made it clear he preferred to do it properly and explained fully the reasons why he advocated certain options plus his quote was competitive even against the “do it in a day” quotes I recieved. I felt reassured, confident that he cared about the detail and making the job scope clear from the outset.
Day of the job – Chris and his lads were on time, kept me informed even with me on the other side fo the country, they opened up and locked up at the end of each day, handled a messy situation with a damaged joist like pros by not bodging but repairing it and made sure I got the end result of nice smooth plastered walls with minimal residual mess.
Post job (about 2 weeks) – Now the dust in the air has cleared, the floors sweeped and plaster “gone off” I can really see the detail these guys went to especially in the difficult areas such as around corner beading and on the overhead windows above the doors. I really rate Chris and his lads and will be having them back hopefully later in the year.
