After posting this job Chris came out the same afternoon and assessed the work required and discussed our options. He sent a detailed, competitive quote later that afternoon and we chose the Baxi Platinum 28 with the 10 year guarantee and added a Magnaclean filter system. Although committed to other customers work for the coming week he decide we could not be left without any heating in this recent cold spell and arranged to come out on Sunday to do the work.
He arrived promptly and wasted no time in removing the old unit. He worked steadily throughout the day but unfortunately he was delayed by a problem with the gas supply which he traced to a fault in our gas meter. We had call the emergency line to Scottish Gas who said that someone would be out in the next two hours - fortunately they arrived in under an hour and repaired the leak at the meter.
Chris could now continue the installation. By this time it was well into the evening and I think most other installers would have said they'll come back another day but Chris worked on to complete the work, he flushed the system, bled the radiators, and talked me through the controls on the boiler.
Although he had to cope with a few problems and worked far longer than he should have he insisted that the price quoted was all that he would take. It was great to find a tradesman that was committed to his work and his customers. I would recommend his services and will definitely be having my annual gas service done by him.
