Results of the job: Before Chris our house was plagued with a creaking, broken staircase - no-one used the stairs at night for fear of waking up the whole house. Every step (and I do mean every step) emitted moans and groans. It began to get us down. Then Chris arrived and tamed our badly behaved staircase. Tonight our home is a happy home! Not one creak can be heard as we go up and down the stairs. Therefore, I wholeheartedly recommend Chris to you if your stairs need mending. Professionalism: Chris knows what he's doing and gets the job done with no fuss. He let me know ahead of time that the end result of the repairs wouldn't necessarily be nice to look at but that didn't matter as it will be covered with carpet. He set a fair price, communicated with me ahead of his arrival, told me what he could and would be doing, arrived on time and did the job he said he would. I can't fault him. One more thing: If it matters to you who comes into your home to do work (and to me, as a woman, it does matter) then Chris is your man. A nicer, more trustworthy chap you couldn't hope to meet. And to me that means an awful lot. If I ever have a creaking staircase in the future I would call Chris straight away.

STAIRS - I tried for two weeks to get a quote to fix my stairs and could not even get a reply from a tradesman! Chris was different. He replied to my request within a minute and we set-up an appointment there and then. He explained that the distance he had to travel was his choice and he had no problem with it. He is also an extremely personable character and easy to talk to on the phone and in person. I received a confirmation text the night before the job and Chris arrived promptly on the day! Despite being on the road for 4+ hours, he was right into the task. I had two problem treads and a slight sag on a riser, with the whole stair and landing creaking. It was like being on a man-of-war at sea in the old days! Chris fixed and tightened the lot and it's more like the space station now, you float over the floor! He also lifted and re-fitted the carpet for me. Although he explains that he is not proficient in this, mine went back just fine. We also had a good old chin wag as he worked and he gave me loads of ideas for doing up the house. It is a fair bit of money and could make people think twice but I've paid a lot more and got much less than he supplied! Money well spent. I would recommend Chris to anyone with stair problems and I already have another mate who needs his skills! Thanks Chris

Would definately recommend Chris as a joiner. Stair repairs were done quickly and the quality of repair was great. He also sorted out squeaky floorboards that had been like that for years Genuinely nice guy! Thanks Chris

Apologies to Chris for the late posting of this review but to confirm I am very happy with the work carried out. Chris did a great job repairing our creaking stairs, and after having new carpet laid they are now totally silent. If you have creaking stairs then Chris is the man for the job.

Chris was such a pleasure to hire from start to finish! He's a true professional and a really happy soul also. He's an amazing tradesman, tidied up after himself and kept everything nice and covered during the job. I hope I don't have to use him again but would thoroughly recommend him to any of my friends.

Chris was very prompt and professional in responding to the job posted. My initial concern was the distance he would have to travel but he assured me he worked countrywide and that he specialized in staircases. He was able to give a fixed price, which I provisionally accepted pending other quotes. Two other tradesmen visited but I am still awaiting their quotations. In the meantime Chris was available to start the job on the Tuesday before Christmas and feeling very comfortable from my telephone conversations that he knew what he was talking about, he was duly hired. He arrived on time and was extremely courteous and respectful of our home. The job was completed within a few hours, with minimal disruption and the decor remained intact (other tradesmen had stated there would be a requirement to remove some plasterboard and make good). I can highly recommend Chris for attitude and professionalism, however, his 'dum-di-da' singing service while he works will not trouble the X Factor contestants! (Only joking and in fairness he does warn you beforehand!)

Chris's very positive, friendly and reassuring attitude over the phone was matched by his approach to his work. Every moan, groan and creek ever experienced on my stairs have gone. Each time i go up or down the stairs i am in awe of how slient it is and how secure it feels.

Our staircase was very springy and creaky. Chris came within a few days of making contact, replaced a broken tread and tightened all the others so that the stairs are now virtually solid. No mess, no redecorating - wonderful! PS. I left this for a week or so to see if the stairs started to work loose again but they haven't - very happy.
