Robert did a good job on our flat roof and worked very hard for it. The job was completed on time and as per budget. Robert was at all times very courteous, polite and very cooperative and kept us in the picture as the work progressed.Review from ruhail29074, Wanstead, London ruhail29074, Wanstead, London
Review left on 2 Jan 2020Rating: 1 out of 5Leak in roof possibly some tiles that need replacing.
Charged £160 for what ended up being no more than 15-20 minutes work. Which seems excessive in retrospect. Planned on leaving rubbish on my roof until I noticed and asked what he had done with it. Wasnt happy about bringing it down.. Refused to take it with him.. Like I said paid him £160 for what ended up being 15 minutes work including materials which must not have cost him at most £10/£15, the least he could have done is take the rubbish with him. Roof is no longer leaking so the job was done to be fair, but expensive considering the time spent and unprofessional for leaving rubbish on roof initially and then refusing to take it with him to be honest. Wouldnt recommend and will not be using again.Answer from tradesperson:
The cost of this job £160.00 the location is at least 40 minutes and I visited twice, £20.00 fuel. Lead cost £20.00 materials £30.00.. I provided photo's to show the customer exactly what the condition of he's roof was in, and completed photo's. He informed me he ad had other work men up there previously who were cowboys ( he's words) had left large amounts of debris in he's gully. There was also a join in the lead gully which was roughly in line where the leak was. My quote was to replace all broken tiles, clear the debris from the gully and seal the join in the lead. It did not include disposing of waste left by other tradesmen, it was simply to clear the gully to allow free flow of water. I had highlighted other works to the customer who agreed that it would need addressing soon, so with this in mind because of the height, almost 3 story's that it would be safer to bring the rubbish down when we carry out the other works as I could bring someone with me to help bring it down. The bags were in a completely safe place and not causing any obstruction. He insisted on bringing it down now and he would dispose of it, in which I did and on seeing the amount and how heavy the bags were, he asked if I could take it with me. I explained that not only was it not included in the quote but my van was fully loaded from the previous job I had finished. I sincerely regret accepting this lead and would highly recommend any future tradesmen to avoid this customer at all cost.

Robert was prompt and friendly at quotation and organisation stage, upto the point where we agreed that i would order and pay for materials and have them delivered to site, according to the order that he specified with the supplier. Which is what we did and arranged work to start on Friday or Saturday, although the weather didn't allow that so we agreed for a Monday start. But on Monday he didn't turn up as his van had broken down, which he let me know by 8.30am. By 3.30pm he suggested I may want to find someone else to do the work as the van repair would take a few days. I tried to arrange collecting him or re-arranging for Thursday, but he didn't agree. We spoke on Tuesday and he told me he had already booked in other work for Thursday now. At that point it was very clear to me that he wasn't interested anymore in doing the work, and in the process I had wasted a week and had materials on site that were specific to him completing the work. So a week later now and the roof isn't done, its affected our building project program, and cost us hundreds of pounds. Not a good situation at all. In all, I'm sure he's a very nice person, but reliability was poor.Answer from tradesperson:
The reason the customer paid for the materials is because he insisted "he new how much everything cost" as he had dealt with our supplier before and that he was an architect. As standard procedure any job over a £1,000.00 we require a third of the job total for cash flow purposes. Unfortunately I didn't have any control over my van breaking down, I informed the customer as soon as I was sure I was going to be delayed for any length of time. Once I had to call recovery basically. The problem was diagnosed later that day and was told the part would have to be ordered in, plus the time for the work to be completed. I informed the customer as soon as I found out and suggested that if the job was urgent that he might want to find someone else has I wouldn't be back on the road until Wednesday, possibly Thursday.. he suggested "someone picking me up" but I explained to him that all of my tools and equipment are on my vehicle which is in the garage and that it would be to much hassle. He informed me that he was going to use another guy but then on the Tuesday asked me to come Thursday at which point I had booked another job to start. I found this customer EXTREMELY difficult to deal with and would STRONGLY advice any trades to avoid at all cost.

I am very pleased with Robert's work. Robert gave me good advice, identified the issues and suggested solutions which were very cost effective. Robert was responsive on the phone, polite, punctual and worked neatly. All my issues were resolved and I was charged exactly what I was quoted. I highly recommend Robert.
