I needed this doing was because I'd managed to smash the cistern lid of my existing loo while attempting to fix the inlet valve that had become faulty (it was filling far too slowly). Brendan duly arrived on time, lugged the 27kg box containing the new loo up the stairs to my 1st floor flat. He's friendly and professional and immediately got stuck into the job. Unlike the many plumbers you see on Rogue Traders, he (wisely) didn't toss the old loo into the back of the van but carefully removed it and placed the bits on the landing outside. Old loo out, he then proceeded to fit the new one. But the pipes don't meet up, so he nips off to get a new section of pipe. Soon after he's back and he's already into the second hour but reassured me that he won't be charging for the 2nd hour since he quoted for 1 hour (every other plumber PLEASE TAKE NOTE!). New loo fully in and I'm thinking “great, job done”. Sadly no, seems that the original builder of the flat positioned the waste pipe just slightly too high so the pipe was not level and thus this loo was never going to work without flooding floor each time it flushed. Brendan said he'll refit the old loo (and even fixed the inlet fault too!) and now we've discovered who made the old loo, I can try to get a new lid. No charge for supply of the new loo as he's probably going to be able to use it somewhere else and he'll only charge me for the cost of the pipe (£5.50) and the agreed 1hr labour. The best/cheapest plumber, bar none!
