Firstly, its important to recognise that the workers where professional and pleasant and following finding of a hidden drain put a cover on it free of charge. They certainly appeared to know what they where doing.
I have left this a week to try to make this as objective as possible, drive available for viewing.
I wanted a drive coloured to match my steps ( and roof being painted and new door). I asked for coloured concrete but was told it would be slippy and tarmac was recommended. That Tarmac only comes in black was not made clear to me, I would not have gone ahead if I had known. This colour requirement is evidence in email about colour of edging.
The tarmac has been down a week and appears solid; It was laid in part over pre-existing block layer, I noted one block was very loose (this was removed next day before the tarmac was laid)
-The tarmac stones ( agregate?) varies in size from around 5 mm to 30mm creating a patchy look which I am sure will worsen as the increased surface roughness around the large stones pick up more dirt.
I do not see this large variation in two other recently laid drives in houses near to me but this could well be me showing my ignorance of what tarmac is
- My drive reminds me of a builders yard.. or a farm track.
- Bottomline is that it will, when I get the money together, be replaced or be coated with resin ( something this company cannot provide.)
I am sure if tarmac is what you want this is a company to chose.
