Complete refit of Family bathroom and separate WC: EN5
This review is well over-due, however this was necessary due to the persistent issues we have had since the installation of our bathroom & toilet. PROS Reasonable quote Did come back and resolve the issues time and time again after his sub-contractors had left CONS Cheap labour with little attention to detail or pride in their work e.g. poor silicone application, different layers of grout, irregular radiator fitting, no electrical certification Original install timeline of 2-3 weeks extended to more than double that Hot and cold pipes were connected the wrong way around Promised to be on site everyday but did not. Many of the issues could have potentially been prevented had the work been checked daily Constantly associated our requests for a better finish with us being fussy/increasing his cost e.g. underfloor heating loose wire vs. his recommendation of a heat mat, spray painting the external pipes and leaving paint on our exterior walls Numerous leaks from the upstairs bathroom into our kitchen – shower, sink, toilet and bathtub all leaked at some point and in some cases twice within a year after the bathroom was fitted Reluctantly replaced the kitchen ceiling as a result of the leaks. Refused to return kitchen decoration to pre-leak state, stating “I’m not re-decorating your kitchen for you” We have had to take off at least 7 working days since the original install to monitor repairs; Andy only came once to check these issues his original team had left

    Answer from tradesperson:

Some of this review is factual, but disappointingly, some is not. Regrettably, this installation, nearly 2yrs ago, did have its problems. However, the project was completed, at the time, and is actually a beautiful bathroom. Any issues that have arisen, (notably a couple of leaks, and a pipework issue) over the last couple of years, were resolved quickly, and without question, including any associated remedial work that was necessary. In nearly a decade of trading, my company, and it's employees, have served many families and households, and has built a professional and friendly reputation amongst them. The fitters, from this installation, haven't worked for the company since.

    Bathroom replacement + Plumbing improvements
This was the first time I ever hired a professional for a major job - so it has been a learning experience. This review is almost a year overdue, as I haven't been using the new bathroom due to some parallel refurbishment works underway at present. Compared to others, Andy was the first person to actually roll up his sleeves and 'take a look' at the structure and any limitations of what could/couldn't be done There were a few things that could have gone better (e.g. having insulated underlay for the underfloor heating) which I take responsibility for not making it explicit at the time. I also had to re-schedule the agreed start date, to Andy's inconvenience - he was a gentleman about it. What stops me from giving a glowing review is that, there were a few things I noticed that showed a lack of attention to detail. For example, I noticed a *major* leak the first time I flushed the toilet. Also, the hot and cold water supplies to the bath taps were swapped. To Andy's credit, these mistakes were immediately corrected the moment I pointed these out to him. The finish of the carpentry is not neat as I'd like it to be. Can't fault Andy directly, as he depends on the sub-contractors he hires (I still haven't received the electrical safety certificate, as the person who did the work is no longer in his employ). So, my review unfortunately has to remain neutral at best. But overall, I'd say he is an honest person and tries his best to please his customers.

Single storey extension 16 met. sq. with flat roof

My rear extension building project went very well from beginning to the very end. It finished within the timeframe promised and also within the budgets agreed with Andy Mellish, the manager. I am now very happy with my newly built extension, and very satisfied in terms of its quality, looks and overall value for money achieved. In my opinion, the biggest asset in the whole process was Darren, an excellent and efficient builder with an easy-going and always helpful personality. Darren was instrumental in quickly ironing out any day-to-day issues and concerns, which invariably arise in any building project. He was impeccably supported by Mitch and Colin and together these gentlemen made the core of an efficient and professional team of builders. I would use this company again for my future building needs but will insist on Darren doing the job for me and taking overall charge. Thanks guys and it was fun having you all in my home for the 4 weeks or so for a job very well done.

    Kitchen installation

Andy's team have just completed the refurb on my kitchen. Out of 5 potential kitchen fitters and an electrician Andy was the only person who I instinctively warmed to and was by far the most professional. He was punctual, listened to what I was looking for and the following day I received a comprehensive quote. He was also the most reasonable cost wise. Andy and his team are approachable and easy to get along with and I really felt nothing was too much trouble. I'm quite meticulous and the end product didn't disappoint. Highly recommended and will certainly use Andy again for future projects :)

    Complete bathroom refit
Andy and his team did a good job replacing our bathroom and cloakroom. The job overran due to a couple of logistical problems with different tradesmen, but Andy did his best to minimise the disruption. Good communication and accurate quote, which was stuck to. Overall, we're happy with the outcome.

    Bathroom refurb
I am very happy with the work Andy and his team did for me. The best thing about them were how easy they were to communicate with. Andy was always available to answer questions and discuss options. They were also lovely guys, who I felt very comfortable having in my home. I felt they were willing to go the extra mile to give me the exact details I wanted even if it meant more hassle for them. The job took longer than expected, but I think that's the trade-off for such a detailed, personalised approach, and well worth it. I recommend them highly.

    Fit new Kitchen
The guys who fitted the kitchen definitely worked hard and put the hours in. Unfortunately the finishing was poor and even after the snagging list had been dealt with overall work quality could have been improved. However Andy was very easy to deal with and helpful.

    Bathroom refurbishment
We hired Andy and his team to rip out our old bathroom and install a new one, which included plastering, plumbing, electrics, tiling, building a new airing cupboard and fitting a new radiator. We were very pleased with the work, how smoothly the team operated and that Andy popped onto site most days to check everything okay and was also responsive on emails/phone when needed. As we had a hard deadline due to the new lino being fitted, everyone made a concerted effort to ensure everything was done on time, but this did not mean they rushed the job as they were still checking with us that we were happy and asking how we wanted the different bits finished off when there were options. Colin, the main fitter, actually was still here working when I came home one evening to ensure everything was finished off in time despite his early start. Would definately recommend them and use them again in future.
