Reslating/new roof tiles on semi detached property
(Updated on 15 Mar 2022)I had my roof re-slated, facia boards and guttering fitted last year in April. First of all it took him over a month to finish the job as he kept making different excuse for delay. After few weeks of job being completed it rained and leak appeared in two bedrooms ceilings near chimney. Rung Andrew and told him the whole situation. He said he will fix it but it kept going worse and roofer did not show up at all for 7-8 weeks. Went into loft to see if i could fix the leak to only find out that one of the roof tile was also missing. He finally showed up after 2 months only to make promise that he will come back next week with bigger ladder but no show for another 4-5 weeks. Than down pipes started falling off, rung him again only to listen to more excuses. Finally got sick and paid someone under £500 to fix the chimeny leak by removing the stack and re-slating that part of roof again. He promised to pay me half of the fixing cost but nothing. If anyone wants proof come and see for yourself marks of leak are still there on the ceiling and slate is still missing. What a cow boy builder will not recommend at all.
Answer from tradesperson:
Very disappointed to have my first bad review.yes the job took a while but on the second day the first lockdown hit and getting materials was a nightmare my wife went into lockdown with the kids but I endevoured to finish the job rather than leave it for 3 months. As for the chimney we repointed and re lead it. Was told it hadn't worked and was told a separate outfit was going to redo it which I agreed to contribute to.they took the whole stack down which meant the brick was failing and the chimney was shot originally before I started. I refused to pay as I could have done this myself whilst working there.that is the issue the money. Thank you
