I had serious damp issues in my kitchen caused by years of roof leakage, though the roof was repaired last year. Several builders tried fixing the wall, but their work was unprofessional, and the damp patches kept returning, getting worse each time. Today, Stephen Mealing (Steve) from Advantage Plastering and Damp Proofing came to the rescue. He worked with real professionalism, skill, and care, carrying out proper damp proofing and plastering. The wall now looks flawless — clean, smooth, and properly sealed — all done in a few hours. Steve was polite, friendly, punctual, and respectful, truly valuing my time. It’s rare to find someone so committed to quality without cutting corners. I’m very grateful for his hard work and highly recommend Stephen Mealing and Advantage Plastering and Damp Proofing. The plastering services are fantastic and professional. All the poor old plastering fragments are removed and replastering with high quality works. Job was very well done and reasonably priced. Steve was professional throughout, despite having some hiccups with arranging date and time (my fault). He ensured the job was carried out correctly and provided a very smooth finish. Will definitely look to ask Steve to perform other plastering needs when undertaking improvement on the other areas of the house.

Did a good job of a whole skim to front bedroom. Was a bit more expensive than was expecting but as stated a good job.

Very happy with the quality of the work from Steve and his team and the speed with which we were able to arrange a quote with him and a date to come around and do the work. Damp wall was discovered on the Monday after ripping out the old kitchen and the work was completed by Wednesday. I couldn't have asked for more considering that I'd already arranged plasterers and fitters so any later than the Wednesday would have knocked out everyone's schedule. Steve and Andy did a great job and were both very professional and courteous.

I hired Steve two years ago re damp in my dads property. As I was desperate and urgently required someone to rectify the mould problems in basement, I hired Steve as he convinced me he could do the job and quoted me circa £550 to complete it. It wasn’t a large area - possibly about a sqm, and initially plaster looked fine. After about a Month the mould came back again and after calling and leaving him several messages Steve mentioned he was ok to rectify it but never came back. I would not use him again as we wasted quite a bit of money a botch job.

We hired Steve after he came around and gave us a good quote. We arranged for the work to be done the following week. Initially the work looked to be of a good standard but within a couple of days it became clear there were some issues. Fibre tape was left showing on the wall. A plug socket wasn't working and on investigation it been wired up correctly and the electrical cables were loose behind the face plate. Also there was a place where the plastering was to be feathered in and the finish was not what I had expected. Steve arranged to come back and on three occasions he did not turn up. There was no call or message to say he would not be coming and it was days later on each occasion when he got back in contact. The sealant that was used on the outside of the house shrunk and needed to be redone. As I was unable to get Steve to come to the house I hired another professional to sort out the issues. Steve apologised over the phone and offered me a partial refund. Unfortunately after over a month and repeated chasing and multiple promises of a bank transfer I am yet to receive anything.
