I chose Fayn as it provides detailed breakdown on a written quote, similar way of quote for large construction project. I hire it to do two two jobs - #1 repair previous flush light damage; #2 repair painting hook holes. I am happy with the job #1 but job #2 could have done better. For job #1, he has kept the place clean and tidy, ceiling area near flush light becomes smooth and nice. He is polite. For job #2, I was hoping to hide the tiny painting hook holes but they end up enlarged marks on wall. I must say the paint color I got isn’t quite matching, also a matter of new and old paint. I would appreciate him letting know me the color isn’t right after applying to the first hook instead applying to all, as well as using a smaller brush for tiny holes. He helps finding solutions by mixing paint. But every touch up just extends the area, so I had to tell him to start small for testing. He tried hard to make the mark less obvious.

His ability to anticipate issues early not only prevented problems but also helped us save money by refining the plans to maximise our goals and avoid unnecessary costs. Michael’s broad knowledge and skill set were hugely beneficial on a project of this size and within a tight budget. He made the process far less stressful and, at times, genuinely enjoyable. We have been working with Derek Borkiewicz (Sebek Construction) on a renovation of a garden flat in Little Venice since last autumn. We needed to completely restore the whole flat, including the garden. This was our second renovation project and by this time we knew what we wanted to do, which mistakes to avoid and what to pretend from a qualified builder. We will never stop saying how lucky we have been to find Derek and his team! Derek is not only a professional builder who is very careful to the smallest of the details. He is not only a very good project manager who is constantly checking the work of his men. Derek is a friend who takes on board a project like it is his own project. He suggested the most convenient and best solutions for any problem we came across during the works. There wasn’t a time when he didn’t know what to do to solve a difficult situation (and there are lots of small and big issues coming up in a renovation work) no matter how complicate they were and how long it took to solve them. His availability and his courtesy are incredible above all in a fast running city like London. This is priceless to us. His hard work can be seen in the wonderful result we reached with this garden flat. If we ever decide to work on another project we won’t think twice about working with Derek once again. Incompetent and vacuous. Didn’t read the plans or sizes at the start, which meant many crappy adjustments were made throughout, ie sink on the wrong side, oven protruding out etc. Anything that seemed hard was an ‘extra’ cost. Damaged most items that were installed and then refused to change them as it was too much effort. Quality of workmanship was very low, and finishes were terrible, when requested to amend he flatly refused. He seemed very inexperienced and possibly had never fitted a kitchen or bathroom before. Once he had received 90% of the contract money he started refusing to do things and not turning up, eventually leaving the job unfinished. He totally ignored requests to finish the job and kept our keys!! He is supposed to be a qualified gas engineer - however managed to break our boiler and then refused to fix it as he didn’t know how. I mean it’s just lunacy! We have since had another quote to complete the work and fix all the damage he caused which is the same price as what we have already paid. The new builder noted the work used primitive methods and was substandard. I would not recommend Nikolay at all. Total nightmare to deal with and unbearably unprofessional. I can only assume the other positive reviews on here are from his friends!!
