Sam was quick to respond, came out to quote me for the jobs: a flat felt roof replacement and a alleyway polycarbonate roof replacement. One of the first questions he asked me was how many other tradesmen had been out to quote me and the amount they quoted. I was naive and told him, so Sam gave me a slightly cheaper price and I went with him.
I was happy with the flat roof replacement, it was a good tidy job. The problems were with the alleyway polycarbonate roof. After the job was completed the first rain came after a few weeks and I could already see rain water leaking. The more heavier the rain there was the more areas of leaks. I had another 'Builder/Roofer' take a look and he told me the main problem was that the polycarbonate sheets had been laid down the wrong way round. There were of course other faults with it too but too much to go into here.
Sam came over to look at the problem roof and insisted on just doing a 'patch-up' job when what was actually needed was all of the sheets needed taking down and re-positioned which was a much bigger job. I could not get Sam to get his team back to come and re-do the whole roof as was needed, Sam just would not agree. He just wanted to do a patch-up which would not have lasted. Managed to get 'some' money knocked off the quote as a result of this problem but no where near enough. I am now getting someone else in to re-do the whole roof which will leave me out of pocket. NOT HAPPY.
