David seems a friendly enough guy, but the request was for David to come provide a fee quote to change the shower trap to remove the bad smell coming from the shower. Without first telling me about any possible charge, he looked at the pipes, giving his opinion that no actual work needed to be carried out, but then proceeded to charge me his 'call-out rate' for looking. Whilst I appreciate that traders have to be paid, it would have been more honest if he had told me that he would charge for simply looking before he actually did it. After all, he was here to provide a fee quote! Even more annoyingly, David's opinion was that nothing can be done about the bad smell coming from my shower, and advised against changing the shower trap. The next tradesman who came actually did the work and the shower doesn't smell anymore. Not sure I'd recommend.Answer from tradesperson:
Initially I was asked to provide a free quotation but I then carried out work for the customer, which is chargeable. I charged a very reasonable price for the work, charging a day rate even though it was in the evening. I'm sorry the customer was not happy with the service provided and have offered a refund as a gesture of goodwill.

David gave good advice on the best solution for our bathtub problem. The job was then changed from fitting a new bathtub to re-sealing the old one and installation of a new panel, which was much cheaper for us. David gave a reasonable quote for this and did the job in a couple of hours to our full satisfaction. I would not hesitate to hire him again.
