Review from steph61252, Bristol Review left on 20 Mar 2023Rating: 5 out of 5Re-pointing needed urgentlyNeeded our stonework repointed on our old 200 year old cottage, it was urgently needed as parts of the old pointing were crumbling away. We also had a leak above one of our windows as various holes in the stone work. Matt came out really quickly to have a look and gave us a quote, and started the work quickly too. He was really professional throughout the whole process. The work that’s been done looks really good and neat, and will hopefully keep our cottage going for more years to come. Would definitely recommend and use him again in future if we need anything else done.Review from brian65759, Radstock brian65759, Radstock

Review left on 3 Feb 2023Rating: 5 out of 5Stone wall, gate pillars, pointing and fixing.(Updated on 6 Feb 2023)Hired Matt to sort out a falling pillar, stone wall and general tidy or our stonework. The work is lengthy and is being done in parts so we can budget accordingly. Matt has been really helpful, very responsive and his work has been very good.Review from hannahs13, Bath hannahs13, Bath

Review left on 15 Jan 2023Rating: 1 out of 5Lintel repair(Updated on 23 Feb 2023)Hired Matt to complete a lintel job. When Matt began the work he realised the lintel didn’t actually need replaced as he had first suggested it did. Instead of proceeding Matt let me know and the job did not go ahead. Matt had bought the lintel and insisted I still pay him the majority of the quote as he had wasted his own time. Even after I suggested he took the lintel back to get his money back, Matt still went on to ask for money! Stupidly I paid him £150 so that he would leave! Now I have a random lintel in my garden that I have to dispose off and no brick in my wall which he removed before realising the lintel was placed behind it! Never came back to replace the brick he smashed out as he said he would and quick frankly wouldn’t have him back if he offered. Thanks Matt for basically smashing a brick out off the wall of my home and charging me £150 for nothing!Answer from tradesperson:
Toyah contacted me requesting a new lintel to be fitted because the existing one had insufficient bearing I was provided with measurements for the lintel by Toyah . I purchased the lintel and brought it to the property to fit . When i arrived i removed a brick at the side of lintel to find that the existing lintel was notched behind the brick work and bearing on the inner skin of wall so the bearing was not visible from the outside . I did say that it would be a pointless exercise to replace lintel as it was now apparent the existing lintel was fine . I said i would fined s matching brick to replace ( they were not standard house bricks and i said i would have to search for a match . I asked Toyah to let me know a convenient day to return to fit new brick and collect lintel from garden , admittedly im not sure why i did nit take it back on the day it was delivered. Toyah did not get back to me or respond to my messages . I think the £150 charged is a fair price for the time spent collecting and delivering lintel and doing the investigation work to see what was and wasnt required . Toyah also has failed to mention i repointed an area of loose jointing . I feel this review unjustified in the circumstances. Sincerely Matt Sealy

Review left on 22 Oct 2022Rating: 5 out of 5Paint Removal: 4x window cills & surrounds + front doorMatt (Avonstone) was able to start the job quickly, and at a very competitive price. Despite the work taking longer than quoted (no fault of Matt, it was due to the scaffold tower not being delivered on time) he kept to the original cost estimate - very good of him. I'm happy with the results too - instead of very tatty looking painted stonework, I now have clean Bath stone - and as a bonus, repaired joints in the old stonework Matt carried out as well. Review left on 22 Jul 2022Rating: 5 out of 5Repair conservatory coping stone sitingMatt Sealy was friendly and helpful. He worked through part of the heatwave without a grumble. His repair of the spalled stonework in the front of my property was very good, although his clearing up of the extensive mess afterwards left a little to be desired. He managed the re-siting of the conservatory roof capping stones very well in extremely awkward conditions, the sight of which had put off other builders! I am Still waiting for the rain before I can tell if the ingress of water has ceased.Review from katie81357, Trowbridge katie81357, Trowbridge
Review left on 25 Jun 2022Rating: 5 out of 5Garden Wall repairMatt did a great job on my garden wall. It didn't need as much doing as originally thought, and I appreciate that he kept the costs down instead of making it a bigger job.Review from steve73452, Bridgwater steve73452, Bridgwater

Really pleased. Also the work was organised quickly. He cleaned as he went and made a hard job look easy. Amazing workmanship.
