Avoid if you value honesty and reliability. We agreed in writing that £250 would cover completing the listed jobs in one day. He was due to start at 10:00am but didn’t arrive until after 1:00pm, then left around 4:00pm, leaving a significant amount of work unfinished despite confirming beforehand it would all be completed for the agreed price. I paid him in full based on that assurance. In his response, he now claims it was a “day rate”. If that were true, why wasn’t a full day’s labour provided? Arriving three hours late and leaving after only a few hours is not a full day. He also blames some items because they were from Temu. That is irrelevant. Where an item is purchased has no bearing on whether a tradesman fulfils the agreed work. Any unsuitable items were replaced immediately. Throughout the job, almost everything became “a problem”, the TV, the basin, the extractor, despite these tasks being known from the outset. The written messages speak for themselves.
