Hired Mr. Mouellef to service my boiler. He recommended that the boiler be turned off and sealed for Carbon Monixide. I told him that I didn’t want to turn it off and I would place an order within 24 hours for a new boiler. He called the authorities to come to my home and turn it off. I called Pimlico and they came the next day to check the boiler. They disagreed with the findings of the engineer after checking for Carbon Monoxide and disagreed with the report. Pimlico turned my boiler back on.

I wholly recommend Paige/OwlFix It enough for his work. To begin, he came over to inspect the work before giving a very reasonable quote, he was very informative, knowledgable and kept us in the loop at every stage in the process. Paige was incredibly professional and friendly and got the work done in only a couple of days. I especially appreciated his meticulous attention to detail, he wanted to do everything just right and he did. Everything looks and works great and left the house in an immaculate condition. Paige was attentive to all our concerned, amazing communication skills and made himself reachable at every point - day or night. He went above and beyond when he was required to do extra work to ensure we didn't run into problems in the future, which he did gracefully and to an incredibly high standard. All in all, I am very very happy to have such a hard-working person complete what turned out to be quite a difficult work, I would recommend Paige in a heartbeat! Thanks for all your help!

Gas Work- 2 Nov 2016
Hired A&E for a CP12 at a rented property of ours. Billy conducted the test & to my surprise failed it due to a lack of FSD (which I had never heard of before. none of the previous 4 engineers had picked up on this issue. they wanted to change the hob at add cost. When they sent me a softcopy of the CP12- the name on it was different, it wasn't Billy, it was Aaron Spirit - not sure why Billy is doing CP12 on Aaron's cert number... I had to resort to doing my own research online and corroborating it directly with the Gas register who confirmed that the hob was compliant and did not need a FSD (being an old house & the hob being installed originally when FSD was NOT a requirement - pretty basic stuff for a professional gas engineer I would expect). Anyway, having confronted Aaron via phone he amended the CP12 & hand delivered it to me with an apology. I decided to use Aaron a few weeks later for another one of our rental properties - this time a flat - guest what - they failed the CP12 again - FSD and this time the main ECV valve. I called National Grid immediately, they sent out an engineer who confirmed that the ECV valve was working perfectly fine which as you can imagine sent out alarm bells again for the 2nd time. As for the FSD - they were pulling a fast one - I had to call the Gas register again and they confirmed that I was right. despite repeated emails and calls I have not had an explanation from them. Not going to use nor recommend them ever again.

Questions to ask a gas engineer in Notting Hill

Choosing the right gas engineer is essential, not just for quality but also for your safety. You can be sure you find a suitable gas engineer by asking the right questions.

Some key questions you should ask before hiring a gas engineer in Notting Hill include:

Are you Gas Safe registered?

This is the most important question to ask. Only Gas Safe–registered engineers are legally permitted to carry out gas work in the UK. Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card, which lists the types of gas appliances they’re qualified to work on.

What experience do you have with this type of job?

Whether you need a boiler installation, central heating repair, or a gas safety check, look for someone who has completed similar work recently. Experience with your specific appliance brand or system can help avoid costly mistakes.

Can you provide a detailed written quote?

A professional gas engineer in Notting Hill should offer a clear, itemised quote covering labour, parts, call-out fees, and VAT. This avoids unexpected costs and lets you compare prices easily between engineers.

Do you offer any warranty or guarantee?

Ask whether the engineer guarantees their workmanship and if the manufacturer provides a boiler or parts warranty. Many gas engineers in Notting Hill back their work for 12 months or more.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Gas leaks and heating failures can happen at any time. Ask if the Notting Hill gas engineer provides 24/7 emergency cover, and confirm how quickly they can attend.

What are your charges for emergency or out-of-hours work?

Many Notting Hill gas engineers charge a higher rate for evenings, weekends, or emergencies. You should be aware of these rates in advance to avoid unexpected costs if something goes wrong outside normal working hours.

Will you provide a Gas Safety Record after the work?

For installations or inspections, your Notting Hill gas engineer should issue a Gas Safety Record (CP12) confirming the appliance or system has been checked and meets legal safety standards. Be sure that the engineer you choose will do so, if required for the job.

FAQs: Frequently asked questions when looking for gas engineers in Notting Hill

How do I check if a gas engineer is Gas Safe registered?

You can verify any gas engineer in Notting Hill’s registration by visiting the Gas Safe Register website. You can also ask to see their Gas Safe ID card, which shows their licence number and the types of gas work they’re qualified to carry out.

How long does it take a Notting Hill gas engineer to install a new boiler?

A straightforward boiler replacement typically takes one to two days. More complex upgrades (like moving a boiler or updating pipework) may take longer.

Do I need a gas engineer in Notting Hill to conduct an annual gas safety check?

Yes, it’s recommended for all homeowners and legally required for landlords. Annual checks keep appliances safe, efficient, and compliant with UK regulations.

Can I ask a plumber in location to work on gas appliances?

Only if they are Gas Safe registered. Some plumbers in Notting Hill hold dual qualifications, but unless they appear on the Gas Safe Register, they cannot legally work on gas installations or appliances.
