It is essential to understand the true root cause of damp issues in order to determine the right permanent treatment. Most surveyors, property managers and trade contractors misdiagnose the root cause and generally assume the problem is caused by some sort of structural defect which leads to treatments that dont work, ££££ wasted and the problem eventually returns. All too often we see treatments like brick repointing/rendering, DPC/wall injections, cleaning /replacing guttering, roof/flashing work, wall insulation linings, replastering that fail because they assume the problem is some sort of defect and have no effect on the real root cause.
