Are you an independent damp surveyor?

It is important to know if the damp surveyor provides impartial advice or if they are linked to a company that sells specific damp proofing products. An independent assessment focuses entirely on diagnosing the issue, meaning you get a true picture of the problem.

What qualifications do you hold?

Check if the damp surveyor in Dagenham holds recognised credentials, such as a CSRT (Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment), which shows they have training. This helps to make sure your damp investigation is carried out to the right standard.

Can I see examples of your previous damp reports?

What equipment do you use during the survey?

Damp surveyors often use specialist tools to properly detect hidden moisture behind walls or under your floors. Ask if they use moisture meters, hygrometers, or thermal imaging cameras so you are getting a detailed review of your property.

Can you provide a clear, written quote?

Before the job begins, make sure you understand exactly what the damp surveyor in Dagenham is charging for. Ask for a written quote that outlines the cost of the damp investigation, the final report, and any additional fees, so you aren't caught out by any unexpected charges later.

If you know where the damp is coming from, you may be looking for someone to treat it instead. Take a look at our guide on hiring damp proofing specialists.
