Aaron and Dan arrived on time and completed the work in a speedy and professional manner. Both were very amiable and did a very good job of bricking up a window. Took all rubbish away at end of job. Very competitive price. I have just had a bathroom refurbished and I am absolutely delighted. Colin is a really nice guy, turns up when he says he will, started when he said he would and the job took exactly the time he quoted. Colin is very polite, very obliging and we were very impressed with him. He was on site all day every day and wasn't running off "getting bits & pieces" like other builders have, he also doesn't drink endless amount of coffee or take breaks! Jay is, without doubt, the most helpful tradesman I've ever hired! He asked plenty of questions before providing a detailed, itemised written quote including areas where I could save money (for example by stripping wallpaper myself). He completely understood the quality of finish we wanted in the bedrooms within the context of our larger refurbishment project. His team were polite and tidy (given how messy plastering is of course!) and always prompt. The decorator he brought in to paint the newly skimmed walls was excellent and we're really pleased with the end result. Jay, on the other hand, apologised profusely for some minor glitches in the finish of the plaster and discounted his price as a goodwill gesture. We were so happy with his work that we swiftly used Jay and his team to skim and decorate another room in the house and will use them again when we get round to others! I have over 14 years building experience, brickwork being my main trade, but I do cover all areas of general building, which includes extensions, alterations, conversions and all types of feature brickwork and stonework. We cover porches conservatories, garages, garden walls and chimney repairs.
Brett is a nice guy and does do very good brickwork. There were good and bad times... We agreed a payment structure of all material and then money at the end of each week when that stage was completed. It was a disjointed build but he was always asking for more money for the next stage when the previous hadn't been finished. Part way through the build he stated he had taken a job elsewhere and now could not do the next stage (knockthroughs) At this point we had paid him up to and beyond what had been completed but he said he had no money to finish the last bits. After texts asking for the last £1000 because he was so hard up. I agreed to transfer it on the basis he complete the last bits. He never came back as promised. I have since had another builder come in and they have pointed out errors with the work. How the new extension bridges the cavities. These have had to be rectified else would cause damp. Towards the end of the build it was clear our build was not his priority. When he failed to show up when he said he would. I googled his name and previous companies registered to his address. 4 brickwork companies all dissolved. Do your research!
