i had a plumber come round to try and fix our hot water that was running hot cold. its a 10 year old combi boiler that has been serviced every year and only just started having this problem. since he's visited the hot water now runs very hot and rumbles/rattles for a few seconds after it gets going. it has also a few weeks after he supposedoly fixed it has now started to cycle between slightly cooler and hot again. I think there is air in the central heating system as sounds like water running when it's switched on which never used to happen before. there is a water hammer (that the right term?) when toilet flushed and hot water opened too quickly- as in pipes rattle im worried that maybe he's played with the water pressure or something as i've noticed that water also comes out of the bathroom tap when the hot water is on full. just weird. any advice on what the problem could be or what he might have done wrong? i'll be getting a plumber in to take a look, but would appreciate some feedback on what people might think is going on

Hi, I just wondered if it's standard for this unit to feel hot to the touch in the top left corner all the time? Even when the screen and the heating are off? I find it strange to design an electrical unit that way, as if there isn't adequate cooling, heatsink etc. but what can you do? It was installed by a professional gas safe engineer who also fitted a new boiler. He tested it all as working ok. Just so long as it won't overheat and catch fire. I wonder if newer models run cooler? Thanks.
