Unfortunately we had a terrible experience dealing with Don. Initially work seemed fine. Oak treads cut to size and attached well but then Don stained it without using the right technique and left it patchy and completely the wrong colour (compared to our other stained staircase). Don offered no solution or offer to help rectify. Blamed the stain despite proof that if applied correctly it would colour correctly. Since then the stair treads have now also dislodged, all the glue has come loose, the risers have lodged out of place and all the wood has warped. I have contacted Don politely on several occasions, sending pictures of the issues but he continues to ignore us. 2 other carpenters have confirmed Don used the wrong adhesive requiring now a full replacement as the wood warping is irreversible. Avoid Don at all costs would be my recommendation. Don is not a professional tradesman. He has cost us thousands in rectification works, don't make the same mistake we did.

Very responsive and very punctual. Always responded to questions we had via text and turned up exactly when they said they would. Selecting what we wanted was very easy with links they sent and when we wanted to add something later they were very accommodating and sent us more links to what was available. Having the work done was easy as we went away on holiday for the week leaving them the house to themselves. They were very respectful of the property and protected the carpets. The work they carried out was exactly what we were looking for and love our new bathroom. This process was made really pleasant by the guys at Yates Property Services. Throughout the project they were incredibly communicative, helpful, and understanding. The final result is beautiful — honestly beyond what I could have expected. I’m still in awe of it and find myself just sitting and admiring it, especially when the light hits it just right. Shem did a really solid job for me. He arrived on time, got straight to work, and clearly knew what he was doing. He worked quickly but without cutting corners, and his attention to detail was better than I expected. The cabinet he built looks genuinely great, definitely stronger and nicer than many ready-made pieces I looked at online. He also gave a few practical suggestions. Communication was easy, and he checked in with me a couple of times to make sure everything was how I wanted it. He kept the workspace tidy and was respectful of the house, which I appreciated. He just got on with the job and delivered good quality work. Overall, I’m very happy with the outcome and would use him again for future projects. I’d recommend him to anyone who needs a reliable handyman.
