Paul came to initially hang a dozen or so doors, but ended up staying on at site for a month doing all the skirting, architrave and window boards - amongst other things. He also worked on all the ikea wardrobes integrating them into the walls and cutting them down to fit pitched roof sections. Paul turned up promptly every day he said he would including Saturday’s and never paused in his work during the day. Was a real asset to the team in completing a high end self build house project. A great job.

3 doors were fitted to an acceptable level. The main and most expensive door that was fitted was cut too short leaving gaps around the frame allowing a cold breeze to come through the door. I was not happy with the resolution so, I am having to get another carpenter in to fix this issue hence the rating.

HJC Carpentry offer more than just carpentry. My job (caused by serious damp damage) involved removal of plaster, damp-proofing the bare walls, fixing plasterboard and plastering with finish plaster. A void being allowed between wall and board as a prevention to future damp ingress. A number of joists had to be replaced, together with the entire floor (tongue & groove flooring). We used this opportunity to introduce 100mm insulation board beneath the floor which is situated over a void. The work was started at the quoted time and was carried out diligently and with due respect to neighbours. For the duration of the work I was ‘kept in the loop’ with regard to progress and the work was completed to schedule.

They did an overall good job, tidy and clean. The taller one was more professional for sure but they made a miscalculation with a wall, the shorter one kept arguing saying that he did the job right despite his own measuring showing it was wrong, had to show him the text from my architect that detailed the measurements and even still he argued, the taller one mediated and agreed that they were wrong so they did rectify the issue.
