Could your risky DIY cost you a fine or denied insurance claim?
12/05/2024There's no denying that the cost of living rises of late have got many of us thinking about how we can save money. Jobs around the home may be one area that you're exploring cost savings - but did you know that some tasks legally need to be completed by professionals? According to parts of Building Regulations laws relating to “Part P”, those who carry out electrical works in particular rooms, such as the bathroom, are actually breaking the law and could face large fines of up to £5,000! Servicing your own boiler is also illegal, and while not servicing isn't actually against the law, it could leave you uninsured if problems arise as a result.

Sunak’s plans significantly water down the Government’s original strategy to phase out the installation of these boilers by 2026, instead aiming for only an 80 percent phase-out. Environmentalists are concerned by the news, but what do the general public think about it?

12/05/2024If you could only use your kitchen or bathroom for six months of the year, you’d think that was a pretty bad deal. But plenty of us only enjoy our gardens through the summer. As soon as temperatures drop, we almost forget it's there.
Cooking up your ideal kitchen

Demand for an artificial lawn drops fast
12/05/2024Although the Government has recently expressed concern about the popularity of artificial grass, our data released today shows they may be worrying for nothing. According to our own exclusive data, interest in installing an artificial lawn is down a whopping 48 percent, year on year. This was after a steady rise for the trend in the previous few years. What’s more, it seems that many homeowners are opting for more natural gardens, which is good news for environmentalists! Cottage gardens have also gained in popularity, as more Brits attempt to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
