It’s easy to overlook the drab and functional parts of your home. But they could be brimming with potential…
Whether it’s a coat of paint, some better lighting or some professional carpentry, here are some simple ways to add some glamour to even the dullest nooks and crannies.
Upgrade your garage
Is your garage neglected and dusty? Maybe it’s time to clear things up and sort it out.
A fresh coat of paint is a great start. As well as brightening the place up, it also keeps dust down from concrete floors and blockstone walls. While a professional decorator can advise on the right paint for durability, we recommend considering a hard-wearing epoxy for the floor.
Add in a couple of energy-efficient LED striplights and some shelving and you’ll be amazed how much clearer and more spacious it feels.
Give your shed a bit of love
First things first, check your shed for holes and leaks. If there’s a tell-tale damp patch or gaps round the door, these are the structural problems you’ll want to fix first.
Then the only limit is your imagination. If you’re a tinkerer, you can add your own workbench and storage shelves. If you’re a gardener, why not a potting table? Or if that sounds like hard work, you could always turn your garden shed into your own private bar!
Sort out the space under your stairs
Some places just seem to grow clutter – and this is one of the worst. But you can wrestle back control with some new shelves or proper cabinet doors. It won’t just make things look tidier – it’ll give you some genuinely useful storage space.
And for that final touch, it’s usually a simple job for an electrician to add a motion sensor light. So you’ll be able to see what you’re doing, even with your hands full.
Tidy up your bins
Most homes weren’t designed for wheelie bins and recycling boxes. So we often make do by using a corner of the garden or the drive.
A professional carpenter can build your bins a proper home, though, and it’s not a big or expensive job. Whether it’s a bit of screening or a bespoke cupboard, you can wave goodbye to bins blowing over. You’ll almost look forward to bin day…
It doesn’t take much to add a bit of style and better function to these overlooked parts of your home. And if you need a hand, we’ve got experts in your area who are ready to help.
