How do I know if a door fitter near me has the right background for the job?

Look for a local door fitter who can share details about their training or the courses they’ve completed related to door fitting. While formal certificates aren’t essential, asking about their practical experience and approach can give you a clearer picture.

What should I expect from a local door fitter during the job?

A professional door fitter will provide a clear estimate upfront, communicate openly about the work involved, and follow safety and building guidelines. You can expect them to take their time to fit your door properly so it opens and closes smoothly without drafts or squeaks.

Do door fitters near me have insurance?

Yes, it’s important that the person fitting your door carries public liability insurance. This covers any accidental damage or injuries that might happen during the work. Always ask for proof before hiring.

Are door fitters usually experienced in different types of doors?

Many door fitters have worked on a range of doors including wooden, uPVC, composite, and sliding or bi-fold doors. Make sure they’re comfortable with the specific type you need fitted or repaired. You can read customer reviews and view images of past jobs by door fitters near you on MyBuilder

Dan is a top bloke! Did a cracking good job of my wall, which was looking tired and in need of repointing before Dan did his magic. Dan initially came out to see what was needed and quoted a really fair price. Dan carried out the work when he said he would, taking time to do a really good job. Tidied up and cleaned all the area where he was working once he finished. All looks like new. Would certainly recommend Dan for all your building works!!!

Hello, I’m Edward. I live in shrewsbury and currently working on a vast extension to a nursing home in Much Wenlock. It started at 14 beds with 10 flats attached. By the end it will be 43 beds and 32 flats. Throughout this job I have done most of the first & second fix carpentry. Due to the small workforce I did alot more than just one role. Floor fitting, plumbing, bathroom fit, window installation, plastering, tiling, some first fix electrical and plenty of second fix.

Windows & Doors (Wooden)- 13 Jun 2022
Barrie was willing to undertake this job when others were not. We hit a couple of unexpected problems, but he worked to find a sensible solution which hopefully has led to a very satisfactory long-term outcome. He is friendly and approachable. He describes the job in detail and is happy to answer any questions. The estimate/invoice was professional and was reasonable given working at height as well. He is a hard worker who likes to work alone, and we hope to employ him in the future for other building work.

Windows & Doors (uPVC & Metal)- 19 Aug 2019
From first contact to completion communication from Ernie and his team has been exemplary. First visit from Ernie saw guide measurements taken and detailed quote provided that evening with no sales push and all that we needed. By far the most competitive quote for 7 Golden Oak frames with acoustic glass and a composite door we recieved. Hassle free date arranged for installation arranged once accurate and final measurements were taken. Throughout the process clear and prompt communication. Gary and Chris, our fitters, arrived on agreed date and time, professional, polite, courteous and cleaned up throughout the day, absolute stars and could not have been more helpful and accomodating. The windows look incredible inside and out, the finish outstanding despite some very awkward angles and shapes on a bay. To conclude, I would not hesitate to recommend Ernie and the team at Vantage, professional, polite, courteous, quality product with crafted finish, great fitters and great price. Delighted with our windows and door and the difference they have made to our home read less

Chris Johnson did the tiling work. He removed the old tiles, which proved very difficult, and laid about 20m2 new tiles. He was very thorough and did a great job. He turned up when he said he would and left the kitchen tidy at the end of each day. Can't ask for much more.

very poor , did not complete the pointing to high standard whatsover missed a few rows of bricks and when i told him on several occassions he refused to do it. he is extremley messy and does not clean up after himself whatsover. He also did some flagging for us around the same time as the pointing the flags he laid are not level at all and very hollow it has caused to trip up several times He also walked all over my plants and killed them . He also put cement down the drains and blocked them up. He also put waste in my plant pots. He has no repect for people's properties. When i asked him politely if he would put the job right he refused. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE MARK COMLEY HE WILL MAKE A MESS OF YOUR'E HOUSE LIKE HE HAS MINE.
