What makes tilers in London different?

London tilers know that there’s so many different types of properties. They handle everything from small modern flats to large period homes with awkward bathrooms, steep stairs, and tight kitchens that need careful repairs.

Here’s what makes tiling in London so different:

  • Tiling around mixed layouts: London tilers often work in homes with curved walls, and high-up spaces, so they’re skilled at planning patterns around this.

  • Older building quirks: Older homes often have uneven floors, wonky walls, or original hearths and alcoves, so London tilers are used to levelling surfaces and cutting tiles to fit odd shapes.

  • Managing noise in busy homes: London tilers are used to working in occupied flats and terraced houses, so they can plan around work hours, and keep disruption to a minimum.

What qualifications and certifications do you hold as a tiler in London?

Tilers in London should have relevant credentials like a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling and a CSCS card, demonstrating their skills, health and safety knowledge, and competence.

What experience do you have with similar tiling projects?

Ask for examples or references of previous tiling jobs similar to yours in London, whether it’s a bathroom, kitchen, or commercial space, to assess their suitability.

Can you share photos or examples of your recent work?

Before‑and‑after images help you see their style, attention to detail, and how they handle tricky layouts or patterned tiles. Many London tilers show their projects on MyBuilder, making it easy to browse and see what might suit your home.

What types of tiles and materials do you recommend, and why?

A good tiler can guide you on durable, slip‑resistant or easy‑clean tiles tailored to London’s busy homes. Whether that’s hard‑wearing porcelain for kitchens, non‑slip tiles for showers, or water‑resistant options for bathrooms.

How do you structure your quote, and what’s included in the price?

Ask if your quote covers tile supply, delivery, adhesive, grout, waterproofing, and any extra charges for complex layouts or extra prep work like levelling or removing old tiles. This helps you understand the total costs involved.
