Please do not make the same mistake I did and take a chance on this firm, learn from my experience. Mistake 1, do not use online searches or websites, go off word of mouth or recommendations. I was apprehensive as I've not used anyone off the internet before but Jim is ex forces like my self and I thought against my better judgement to give him a chance but on reflection the warning signs were there. Mistake 2, I asked for a quote and he gave me an estimate, do not fall for this trap as an estimate can change and is not a fix price like a quote. He also charges 10% interest rate if you do not pay within 2 days of him sending the invoice. Mistake 3, We agreed a day rate of £265 as I was not happy with the estimate, he lead me to believe the day rate was for him and his apprentice which I thought was fair for 2 people. However, the apprentice as only there 1 day due to an appointment, but i still had to pay the full rate for both days, £265 is crazy money for one person, he justified this as the uk average for a joiner is £270 a day, we are not in the south and jim is not a qualified joiner, he's done a 12 weeks level 3 course. Mistake 3, Jim did not actually get to site til gone 10 on both days and worked til half 5, i only found this out after a site visit on the second day and he was not there. I come away furious at being so naive and taking a chance on jim. My regular builder saw the work and said he would be ashamed at how much had been done in the 2 days.

These people are going round trying to rip off people. £130 for a simple thermostatic shower swap with max 1hour work that doesn'tinvolve any complicated intervention?! Even mybuilder.com advertises that average hourly rate for plumbers is between £40-£70 nationally, with £70 London prices. No thank you.
