Hi, my name is Rob - I run RMH Building Services. We are a small construction business providing an all-round building service to mainly domestic customers covering all trades and specialising in new builds, extensions, landscaping, paving, all brickwork and stonemasonry, groundworks, plastering/rendering, etc. I personally have over 35 years of experience in construction and served a 4 year indentured apprenticeship in bricklaying achieving City & Guilds Craft, Advanced Craft and NVQ Level 3 certificates. We generally operate around a 30 mile radius of Bristol and Bath. I've been a stonemason for a little over 10 years, worked on some high end projects, big stately homes and Blenheim palace. after subcontracting for different companies, its time to go out and start my own company up! I have mostly been involved with restoration projects so I would say that's my speciality but i have experience in banker work, rubble walling, new build ashlar, pointing walls and patios and general conservation of buildings.

I carry out a wide range of construction works covering groundworks, foundations, general building, bricklaying, and landscaping. My experience includes preparing sites from initial set-out through to completed structures, ensuring all work is carried out safely, accurately, and to a high standard. In groundworks, I undertake site preparation including excavation, trenching, drainage installation, sub-bases, and concrete works. I am experienced in setting out foundations, pouring and finishing concrete, and ensuring levels and falls are correct in line with drawings and specifications. My bricklaying work includes constructing walls, piers, and structural brickwork using correct bonding methods, joint finishes, and mortar mixes. I work accurately to line and level, produce neat finishes, and understand the importance of strength, durability, and weather resistance. For general building, I assist with and carry out tasks such as blockwork, repairs, alterations, and basic structural work, following building regulations and good site practice. I also complete landscaping works, including paving, patios, pathways, edging, retaining walls, fencing preparation, and garden structures. Everything is done to a good standard.

I’m an veteran, did 9 years with the REME mostly in the parachute regiment and left the army 4 years ago and started a job laying stone steps with company (Portland stone steps) I have taught myself lettering (the basics) and made copings and supports so had a taster of banker masonry! I do have lots of photos of jobs I’ve done and willing to prove my worth if the right job comes up!
