Hi I’m Stephen Carr trading as SC Construction, I have worked in construction through its various forms for 29 years. Starting with working with my father through his groundwork company to bricklaying myself for the past 20 years. Experience in all aspects from new builds, apartments, extensions, garden walls and general jobs. Doing the extensions, I build and do all related groundwork’s. In 1980, I started working for my father, J W Grant Builders, established in 1948. I learned the trade for 10 years, and we worked together until he semi-retired in 1995. I then changed the firm's name to A J Grant Builders so that people know exactly who they are hiring for their building projects. A J Grant Builders is still a family-run builder, and we do the majority of the work ourselves from start to finish. Occasionally, we need to subcontract aspects of the work to other specialised companies, and we have a fantastic selection of tradesmen that we have worked with over many years.

I am a University of Portsmouth Civil Engineering graduate with both academic and practical construction experience. I have a strong technical understanding of building methods, materials, and best practice, combined with hands-on trade skills.
